Insulated Terminals
Insulated terminals excluding boot lace and ferrules, fall into 3 common cable sizes designated to the colour of the insulation:
Red: 0.5-1.5mm2
Blue: 1.5-2.5mm2
Yellow: 2.5-6mm2
The standard insulation used on crimp terminls, Vinyl, provides good dielectric strength and can be used in most applications.
A premium quality insulator, Nylon, is resistant to hydrocarbons - gasoline, hydraulic fluids and oild and has a good dielectric strength. Unlike Vinyl, Nylon does not out-gas, a critical factor in Aerospace applications.
